Diwali 2007 was less about lights and fireworks, than it was about torrential rains and lightning! Just before we left for Goa, Pune had a night of stormy weather - so much so that I had to pull off my car into a hotel parking for shelter while the rain died down. We reached Goa the next day, looking forward to a night in town on top of a hired Tata Mobile pickup truck - repeating our Diwali adventures from last year. However, nature had other plans in store - the heavens literally opened up, and booming thunder and lightning threatened to wash off all the Narkasurs. And we were driving around at Miramar when a huge bolt of lightning shot out from the skies, crashing with a huge boom close by, scaring the wits out of us, and sending us scurrying for cover. It was a really scary experience, and very definitely deserved an entry into AXNs "Worlds Most Amazing Videos" - except that, we didn't capture it on camera :)
Only late into the night, the rains eased a bit, and people gingerly started stepping out of their houses, Narkusars, wet and soggy stated peeping out of their tarpaulin covers, and a little semblance of normalcy returned to the streets...
And while we couldn't really enjoy the truck top ride that night, we made up for it the next day - driving around town screaming Happy Diwali to the passers by, and probably setting a new trend in the process :)
