Early 90s: Kajol, Shahrukh, a train in the Swiss Alps, Zurich, a village in Punjab, green fields, DDLJ.
2007: Kareena, Shahid, a train in India, Shimla-Manali, a village in Punjab, green fields, Jab Ee Met.
You get the point!
All said, it's an awesome movie. Yes, it is an out and out SRK script, and yes, Rani could have done a great job, but Kareena and Shahid have never been better on screen, and deliver a beautiful performance that actually makes you feel sad that they have broken off in real life. Shahid comes into his own, and looks pretty cool - and remind you so strongly of the SRK of the 90s. Kareena, for once, is amazing. Maybe all she needed was a good director! The script is amazing too, and is what makes the movie really so enjoyable. The dialogues, the screenplay, is the real charm of the movie. The songs are enjoyable, and the item song at the end of the movie is really worth every second spent waiting for it.
Definitely a must watch this weekend - especially with Om Shanti Om coming up next week! :)
