History in the Making?

As Barack Hussein Obama anxiously awaits the results of the US Presidential Election, expected in less tha 24 hours from now, celebrations have already begun in his camp predicting an easy victory...

I wonder - will America vote for him for his policies, or will it vote for him because of his color?

Will it vote for him because he is good, or will it vote for him because McCain is no better?

Are these the two best people in America for this position, a position in which the future of the world is essentially in their hands?

Will Sarah Palin, with all her inexperience and expensive make-up make it to the White House as the Vice President?

Is the American model of Presidential democracy better than our Parliamentary model?

Is a campaign worth more than a billion dollars over 2 years "right"?

What do you think?

You know I do like the debates that they have between candidates before the Presidential Elections.. Putting candidates on the spot, asking them some real questions and hearing real responses instead of prepared speeches is something! I beleive we miss out on that in our elections..

Mc Cain on Jay Leno show.. Interesting, won't you say! I somehow don't expect presedential candidates coming on entertainment shows..

McCain didn't stand a chance in front of Obama. You Have to Hear Obama speak. He moves you. McCain well, I wanna ask him to shut up!

McCain would've been another Bush!

Here's what I don't like about the American model - there is too much lead time before the election, almost 2 years, and of course, it costs billions. And at the end, it comes down to 2 people... almost like having to choose between the devil and the deep sea.

And as far as presidential debates are concerned, if you hear them out properly, you will realise they are all finely managed by the campaign managers - what they say, what they don't say, when they say it... it's not really the candidate speaking, it's the campaign team.

One thing that worries me about Obama is his protectionist policies around outsourcing, and secondly, his touted "strategies" over Kashmir etc...

India will definitely watch keenly his first actions in office...

By the way, do you know, his team has come up with a list of around 200 actions Bush took, that he will "override" as soon as he takes office?
