Corruption

Kani was denied bail today by the court, which sought to make an example of her and the others accused and in jail for the 2G trial, in a ruling that has been hotly debated for its implications. The court made it clear that whether or not the CBI opposed the bail pleas or not (it had opposed the bail plea of the others, but chose not to oppose Kani's plea), the court would make its own decision based on the merits of the case.

Kalmadi, Kani, Raja, Koda, Hasan Ali, Amar Singh... the list keeps growing. Who said crime and corruption doesn't get punished in India?

Anna or otherwise, whether or not Lokpal Bill is passed in one form or the other, I am optimistic that corruption is firmly in the crosshairs!

With due respect, putting these people behind the bars is not sufficient. It is necessary that the lost money is recovered from these people. At the cost of being pessimist, I feel, in all probability, these people are getting 5 star treatment even in the jail. Also, there are chances that the case is left weakened so that the culprits go free. Now - optimist of me - yes, this decision from SC is very good step and keeping the hope ignited that some justice would come out. :)

Let's be a little more optimistic yaar...

Just getting someone like Hasan Ali or Kalmadi behind bars was a big achievement - no one thought it was even possible.

5 star or otherwise, a jail is a jail. You can only do so much in a jail yaar... no family, no travel, think about it.

And read the papers today - Hasan Ali's properties being attached.

Yes, it's just a start, but it's a start! :)
