BlackBerry was always a strong favourite of politicians and criminals alike, primarily because it allowed encrypted peer-to-peer messaging that couldn't be intercepted by security agencies. Good to see the government taking it on, and making it clear that this won't be accepted. With the latest ultimatum to service providers to provide access or take the service off the air, looks like BlackBerry won't be so black any more.

Very apt title and name to 'renewed' BlackBerry's :)
UAE & Bahrain tried to get users to install an "update" on their BlackBerry devices, ostensibly for performance enhancement, but which turned out to be spyware that allowed call and email monitoring. Phones crashed instead. So, it didn't work. I found that very interesting. RIM-Canada- is a bully, a very smart bully.
Saudi Arabia had threatened to ban the service, as well....however I read that it was able to reach an agreement with RIM, to set up a server for the service inside the Kingdom. Hopefully India is next.
After 26/11, nothing is too much precaution.
Well, it's time someone stood up to them. Hopefully, India will be the first.
Touché :-)
