I'm sure the games will turn out just fine.. Come to think of it, I doubt if any venture of this magnitude is devoid of a few pit falls. The only difference is that in this particular case, the pitfalls have been overhyped by the media..

Yes, in Manchester, the athletes were made to stay in dormitories, not rooms.. and there was one toilet for every four athletes, shared.

And there were huge problems in Athens for the Olympics, and until the last moment, everything looked like it was coming apart.

Now Beijing is another story - with a government that can send in tanks on it's students, nothing is impossible, and I wouldn't like my country to set benchmarks against them.

I am not condoning corruption, but I think it's time reputed newspapers like the Times and channels like Times Now stopped being almost fanatical about finding dog prints, foot prints and insects, and focussed on the big picture. If you want to make a difference, go after the corruption and focus on the malpractices.

I absolutely agree with you.. I think that popular media channels like Times are being fanatical about finding faults. The headline in times today is extremely sarcastic.. I started reading the article, and then I came across this line: "At this stage, we (read times reporters) broke off from the guided media tour and quietly entered some more flats in other towers too.." I stopped reading after I saw this. Clearly, your goal was to find faults. So you found them! The media tour was "guided" perhaps because guidance was required. Maybe the other towers weren't ready yet! Ridiculous.. The article really bummed me out..

Yes, and frankly, if I was responsible for the cleanliness of the Games Village, I would line up the Times crew and check their shoes - I am very sure I would find a close match to the prints on the bed!

Do you know one more aspect that has suffered in this mess? The original CWG merchandise, ready and all set to go, except that it's release was delayed, because of the bad publicity. That's sad, isn't it?

Ofcourse bootleggers cashed in on the delay in release of original merchandise. If the fake merchandise was selling, that means there was a demand for the products. It would have been wonderful if people had access to (original) CWG t-shirts & other products to show their support for India.
Fake or no fake, obviously people are buying and hence supporting.
I wish I could buy a t shirt or two, before the games :-)
As a symbolic way to show my support, albeit remotely.
