RSS Chief Speaks

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat is addressing the media - and it's heartwarming to see him talk about reconciliation, peace and harmony. He talked about not overtly celebrating victory, he talked about this not being about victory or defeat, but about the country's identity.

India has truly arrived!

He also said that Lord Ram was the "symbol" of our country AND requested Muslims to help the Hindus in reconstructing the temple.. If one wanted to compare his speech with his "general" attitude, I guess you are right in saying that it was extremely mature and sort of heartwarming.

The other way of looking at it is that he said what he wanted to say, only in a warmer tone. Think about it.. If the verdict was not sort of in favor of the "Hindus", I am confident he would not have been so polite. Moreover, I am confident that he would have reacted aggressively had a Muslim called upon Hindus to help in the reconstruction a mosque..

I don't think the verdict is really pro-Hindu or pro-Muslim. Both parties have been asked to share the property, giving both equal right to their beliefs, practices and sentiments. And while most Muslim leaders have been talking about "disappointment", we have the RSS chief talking about reconciliation and moving forward together. I think that's huge. Harsha, we are talking about the head of the RSS here - I think he went farther than anyone could expect him to!
