Been one of those crazy days yesterday. Ram Singh, one of the prime accused in the Delhi rape case allegedly hanged himself to death in Tihar, raising suspicions about foul play. On the other hand, another rape accused in J&K actually escaped via goverment helicopter, along with some accident victims that were being airlifted to hospital.
Arrangements for the new Pope's election are complete, and the process of electing the new Pope should start today.
Italy meanwhile is now refusing to let the two marines accused of murder of fishermen in India, return to India, saying India refused to respond to calls from Italy for a diplomatic solution to the issue. With the AugustaWestland chopper bribe case, with Berlusconi recently convicted, and now this, India's relations with Italy don't look too bright - Sonia Gandhi notwithstanding.
Meanwhile, the Australian cricket team management pulled off a surprise dismissing Shane Watson and three other key players from the team for the third test, for not doing their homework! Apparently, they had been asked to submit a powerpoint detailing how they would help win the test. With the 4 now ruled out, Australia have just 12 members available for selection. Interesting to see how this will play out!
In other news, BJP got a hammering in the Karnataka civic polls, and the party's future without Modi seems really shaky. Will they really be able to dent the Congress's chances in 2014? Time will tell, I guess.
