Tehri Dam

The Uttarakhand government has been facing a lot of flak from everyone, especially so-called self-proclaimed environmentalists, for the dams on the rivers being a cause of the flood and destruction, but initial flood assessment reports show that the Tehri Dam was able to absorb a huge amount of water after the cloud burst, and actually saved towns like Haridwar and Rudraprayag from almost complete destruction.
